Provo Dating Culture
Dating - something we’re all coerced to do by leaders
from the Prophet to our Bishop. It's something that should be fun and uplifting, yet there seem to be little
things here and there that keep people from having the experiences that they
want. If we can band together to combat
some of these concerns, then we can change the culture! So.
Post a comment about a concern you have, or address a concern that you
see on here. Here’s a couple examples:
Everyone is
focused solely on marriage
Openness/Good
Communication
Jumping to
conclusions about innocent acts
So contribute
with comments! Put your two cents in and
let’s work to make things better!
Ideas
Go on a hike!
Snapchat
sardines- (group date) hide somewhere on campus with your date then send the
others in the group a snap of where you’re hiding and then enjoy one another’s
company while the others come find you!
Make dinner
together- figure out how you work together with the end result being a
(hopefully) delicious meal!
Explore
campus- try to find something that you’ve never seen before!
Organize a murder-mystery date night!

Two Magazine:
BYU puts out a magazine about dating- look for it! They are free and can be found at various places around campus. Look for the stands with the magazines!
You can also find all of the great stuff from the magazines here on this website:
Pinterest:
For guys and girls alike, Pinterest is a great place to find date ideas, dating advice, food to make and so on. It’s just a schmorgesborg of good ideas about anything!
Friends/Family
Talk to a buddy, your parents, people in your ward and so on! See what dates they’ve been on, experiences they’ve had and learn from them. There’s nothing bad about stealing someone’s idea for a date (as long as it’s not with the same person!) Learn how your parents got to know each other and maybe even give it a shot!
BYU Calendar
Looking for things to do on campus? Check out what’s going on on BYU’s calendar! From sports to concerts to random happenings around campus, you can look for something good to do on the weekend.
Google
Search (with caution) specific concerns or ideas (i.e. cheap group, hikes to do around Provo, etc.). Usually you can find something here or there!
The MOA is a great place to go to experience some culture, have some good talk time, and find common interests. There are lots of different kinds of exhibits, so don't be worried that it will be "boring." You can also put together fun activities at the MOA like scavenger hunts, creating titles for pieces of artwork, and guessing your date's favorite. Also, there's a SUPER delicious restaurant located conveniently on the top floor of the MOA. ReplyDeleteGo on a Bike ride along the Beautiful Provo River Parkway to Utah Lake. It is approximately 5.4 miles and beautiful the whole way there
ReplyDeleteAlternatively, go the other direction on the trail into Provo Canyon. You can go to Bridal Veil Falls, and even farther if you'd like. Enjoy impressive views of the mountains and river on both sides!
